Imaging & Sensing Technologies
Advanced industrial imaging and sensing technologies for inspection, measurement, and identification.
LM3 Technologies utilizes a broad range of industrial imaging and sensing technologies to capture critical information about manufactured components, assemblies, and production processes. These technologies provide the foundation for automated inspection, dimensional verification, and intelligent manufacturing systems.
From high-resolution optical cameras to 3D laser profilers and thermal sensors, our technology portfolio supports applications requiring precise visual analysis, geometric measurement, and identification across diverse materials and manufacturing environments.
3D Vision & Laser Profiling
Non-contact 3D measurement of surface geometry, dimensional features, and spatial characteristics.
Three-dimensional vision and laser profiling technologies provide precise spatial and geometric information beyond conventional 2D imaging. These systems acquire depth, height, contour, and profile data for evaluating manufactured components against defined dimensional and positional requirements.
LM3 utilizes laser triangulation, depth cameras, and 3D sensing technologies for applications requiring surface measurement, feature localization, geometric verification, and robot guidance.

How it Works
A laser profiler projects a thin laser line across a component’s surface while an integrated camera captures the reflected light from an offset angle. Using laser triangulation, the sensor calculates variations in height and surface geometry based on the position of the reflected line.
As the component or sensor moves, successive profiles are combined to generate a detailed 3D height map. This data enables precise dimensional measurement, surface analysis, feature verification, and defect detection.
